Whatcom County real estate numbers for December are up for both price and number of sales over last year and down a bit in number of sales from last month. If the pattern of sales (green line in the chart above) stays true to the pattern of the past few years we can expect to see the number of sales drop to about 100 over the next two months. The inventory of homes for sale is very low this year and according to the absorption rate we are in a sellers market. If your thinking of selling this may be a good time while there is still a scarcity of homes for sale and before the spring when lots of homes start coming back on the market and we may switch to a buyers market.
Interest rates are still hovering at record lows and are expected to stay there fora while longer.
