It’s Ski to Sea weekend and Bellingham is jam packed with activities. This is the 100 years anniversary of the Mount Baker Marathons, (the predecessor of Sunday’s event) in which some very adventurous competitors took a car or train to the base of Mount Baker, ran to its summit and back down and then returned to Bellingham. Today’s race starts with a ski leg on the mountain and ends with a kayak leg finishing at Fairhaven’s Marine Park.
On Saturday there is the Grand Parade downtown starting at noon, and a Block Party on Railroad Ave from 4 – 8pm, sponsored by Boundary Bay Brewery, featuring one of Bellingham’s favorite bands “The Atlantics.”
Sunday is Race Day and the big party where “it all ends at the Fairhaven Festival …the 8th leg of the Race” as well as lots of end of race party’s all around town Sunday and Monday.
There’s also an Antique Auto & Wooden Boat show at Boulevard Park on Sunday from 10am – 4 pm.
