Ski and snowboard enthusiasts, the wait is over. The Mt Baker ski area will open tomorrow Nov 29.
With Monday nights dusting of snow in the foothills around Bellingham, Mt Baker got 17 inches of new snow bringing their base to 33 – 35 inches. They are looking forward to a picture perfect powder opening day with possibility of more snow.
If you can’t make it for the opening day, it looks like the weekend weather might make Saturday a great day to get out on the mountain.
Mt Baker gets an average annual snowfall of 647 inches. The vertical rise is 1,500 feet. They have a total of 8 chair lifts and 2 handle tows. The areas are 31% expert terrain, 45% intermediate, and 24% beginner terrains.
