Today is Memorial Day, a day to remember those who gave their lives in the service of our country.
In Whatcom county there is a remembrance at the 45th Annual Festival of Flags, Our Region’s Largest Memorial Day Celebration, Presenting a Stirring Tribute to the “Guardians of America” 45th Annual Festival of Flags, Monday, May 31, 1:00-4:00 PM, at Moles Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.You will have the opportunity to meet nine Pearl Harbor survivors and see the arrival of the American flag from a Department of Homeland Security helicopter.

1:00 Festival Concert with The New Originals, Bellingham H.S. Alumni’s Brassworks Quintet, and the Ferndale High School Drum Line;
2:00 Remembrance Ceremony: Jerry Stewart, Department of Homeland Security Helicopter Landing, Heritage Flight Museum vintage flyover, Military Honors Presentations, Civil War Canon Firing,
3:00 Festival Reception: A concert by the 24 member Bellingham Youth Jazz Band Concert, food, games, Pearl Harbor survivors;
