The BellAir Radio Controlled Flyers Club’s fifth annual event War Birds Over Whatcom and All Bird Fly in, is happening this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14-15
More than 60 scale-model airplanes representing at least 25 types of World Wars I and II planes will prove to be a lesson in historical accuracy
The free event Saturday, will treat spectators to what classic planes like the American C-47 twin-engine cargo plane and the WWI-era German Fokker D.VII fighter looked like in the air, complete in a few cases with paratroopers floating through the sky and simulated bombs dropping.
Sunday, also free to spectators, will feature an All Bird Fly-in for those with American Model Association credentials.
It’s all happening south of Ferndale on the North Red River Road field. From the freeway, go west on Slater Road, then south on Haxton Way; follow the signs.
