We have convenient access to, the San Juan Islands and the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. For those into lake boating and sports like water skiing we have, Lake Whatcom and Lake Samish, and for human powered boats there’s , Lake Padden, Emerald Lake, and Cain and Reed Lake’s.
Squalicum Harbor is full service marina offering year around public moorage as well as visitor moorage facilities. Squalicum Harbor is a home to over 1,400 pleasure and fishing and other commercial vessels including several charter companies.
Kayak, sailboat or rowboat rentals are available in Fairhaven at the Bellingham Bay Community Boating Center (CBC), a non-profit that promotes boater safety and education. They also offer courses are beginners in sea-kayaking, sailing and open water rowing. There is also a boat ramp in Fairhaven for trailered boats or kayaks.
Bloedel Donovan Park on Lake Whatcom is a popular spot in the summer for swimming, fishing and boating, barbecues and picnics. There are also many privately-owned docks along the shores of the lake.
Larrabee State Park has a popular saltwater boat launch and 8,100 feet of shoreline on the Bay.
Blaine Harbor has a marina accommodating 600 recreational and commercial boats as well as visitor moorage.
