The 26th Legendary Banked Slalom is taking place this weekend at the Mt. Baker Ski Area. It is one of the most famous snowboard races in the world. To the winner, a trophy made out of a roll of duct tape painted gold, yet it draws Olympians and world cup gold medalists from around the world.
DOT posts signs in Bellingham, Maple Falls, Sumas, Glacier, and other spots when the highway is closed to warn people in advance. You might want to check road conditions with DOT before going up.
