The local unemployment rate for October of this year is 7.4% the lowest so far in 2009. Washington state’s unemployment rate was 9.3% while the US rate was 10.2%. Most of the growth was from state government jobs including schools that were reaching their full staffing levels. October has traditionally been one of the lowest months of unemployment ,at least in the last six of seven years it’s been that way.
This is all according to the Washington State Employment Security Department who tracks these numbers. There was also a slight increase in construction jobs for October.
