Come celebrate the life of Laurette Langille, Sunday, January 23 · 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Bellingham Moose Lodge 493, 1761 W. Bakerview,(near Bellingham Airport). the event is a fundraiser to publish and manufacture her CD. The event will kick off about 4pm on Laurette’s birthday, Jan 23rd. There will be a Live Blues Jam, a Cornbread and Chili Feed, an Auction and a Bake Sale.
Although one or two of her original songs were included on 4 different regional compilation CDs, Laurette never made a CD of her own, but her live performances were recorded often by Jerry Wolcott of InTune Studios. After she died, Jerry sifted through all his recordings of her solo work and put together an album of 12 representative songs including several of her originals. Marcia Guderian did the graphics and now we are working on raising money to get the album manufactured.
We have made some temporary home-burned copies to facilitate pre-sales of the CD, but the final product will be injection molded with a protective coating and will include more artwork, information and photos. In addition to manufacturing costs, we will need to pay mechanical licensing fees on the 8 cover tunes included on the CD, before it can be officially published and sold. The alternative to publishing the CD is that Laurette’s very unique sound and an important part of Bellingham’s musical history will be lost. Proceeds from sales of the published CDs will go to Laurette’s daughter, Tempeste.
