The Pickford Film Center will celebrate the 12th and final anniversary of the Pickford Cinema on Cornwall Avenue. The new film center on Bay Street is getting closer to completion, and soon the doors of the tiny independent cinema will be closing.
“This anniversary will be a little bittersweet for all of us who have come to have a particular fondness for this little theater – despite her quirks and limitations,” relayed PFC Executive Director, Alice Clark, who was also a founding board member of the organization. “When we opened our doors on November 20, 1998 we truly did not know if the place would even fly. Through the years we have been honored to be a part of the evolution of the theater, which has gone from the little kid on the block to a true community institution.”
The anniversary celebration will be on Saturday, November 20th with a public reception with cake, refreshments and tributes at the Allied Arts Gallery (across the hall from the Pickford Cinema – 1416 Cornwall Ave.) from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
From 2:00 – 3:00 pm at the Pickford Cinema. there will be a special screening of the highlights of the most popular films shown at the Pickford followed by Mary Pickford film shorts
Seating is limited to 88 seats.
