In the northwest corner of Washington State on the Nooksack River, Ferndale was incorporated in 1907. Ferndale was originally called Jam because of its location next to a logjam on the river, the City's new name Ferndale came from the ferns that once grew around the original Ferndale school house.

Ferndale is a vibrant community, just north of Bellingham and 13 miles south of the Canadian Border. The nearby attractions include Mount Baker, the San Juan Islands, loads of lakes, and the Nooksack River. Ferndale is a short drive from Vancouver, British Columbia, and not very fart from Seattle.
