Just returned from a float trip on the Skagit River to view not only the river but the eagles that are here to feed on the area’s spawning salmon. We floated the river from Marblemount to Rockport about a 2 hour 8 mile trip. We saw 169 eagles give or take a few in that stretch of the river which includes the Skagit River Bald Eagle Sanctuary. The Skagit is well known as having the largest concentration of eagles in the lower 48 states in the winter months when the salmon are abundant, only surpassed in number by Alaska. The Skagit is the 4th largest river in the Western US behind the Columbia, the Colorado, and the Sacremento. We are very fortunate to live in an area of so much natural beauty.
Get out and take advantage of it.
