Bellingham Bay Rendezvous & Schooner Zodiac Renaming Ceremony
Saturday 9am-4pm by the Fairhaven Cruise Terminal.
Get out to celebrate Fairhaven’s nautical past and present. The activities at the event, including the ceremony (around 12:30pm) when the 160-foot historic Tall Ship Schooner Zodiac formally and officially transfers its home port from Seattle to Bellingham!
You can tour the Zodiac and the a number of other boats in the fleet of local charter boats, and visiting vessels from the NW Windjammer Fleet. You can also enjoy day sails, long boat races, sea chanties, maritime-themed presentations, model boat building, nautical arts, dockside boat tours, antique marine engine demonstrations, and public tours of the US Coast Guard Cutter Sea Lion.
The Schooner Zodiac, was built in 1924 and is registered as a Historic Landmark.
The Zodiac is the largest wooden schooner and has the largest working main sail on the West Coast. Her main mast is over 127 feet tall, and she is built of oak frames and planks and her deck and masts are made of Douglas Fir.
